Bomba is a thirty-two-year-old Literature teacher at Maryhill Secondary School. His charisma has thus far won him three consecutive “Teacher of the year awards” In the name of faithfulness he has been recently assigned to supervises an MBA student from Singapore visiting the school. Kuen is smiley-Girley and appreciates Bomba. Their relationship grows past Literature discussions to a love relationship.

It’s the end of the research period, Kuen is in Bomba’s house parking her bags preparing for her trip. The house is dead silent; Bomba is thinking about how to manage a long-distance relationship. Kuen wipes her tears as she moves close to Bomba. Clamped in each other’s embrace Kuen’s voice starts to break, “Bbb-oo-mba I am gonna miss you

Fast forward six months later, Bomba has started applying for teaching jobs in Singapore through LinkedIn but with little success. In that country priority for employment is to nationals.  “Doing the same thing over and over expecting different results is insanity” Bomba changes approach, he shares links on his LinkedIn accounts for teaching jobs in Singapore. One of the posts of Quaray Ltd jobs in Singapore is liked by thirteen people including the CEO of the Company. Mr. CEO notices the generous gesture from Bomba, connects with him, gets to know about his teaching background and offers him a job.

What does this got to do with career progression? Everything:

  1. First, the only thing you can control in your career is being prepared. Bomba’s effort was relentless with a positive attitude.

2. Secondly, “If storms hit everyone then the issue is not the storms but the structure” Bomba faced challenges before the elevation but he kept changing approaches.

Skills withstanding, career progression is a result of a positive attitude and maximum effort.
