How to end modern day Corporate Slavery

Having a job doesn’t make you a Corporate slave but living as if your entire life depends on it makes you one.

You and I know about the transatlantic slavery between 1526-1867 where twelve million Africans were taken to America to grow sugarcanes and tea. That type of slavery was abolished.

However mental slavery is still prevalent among the elites of the Corporate world. Slavery is the exploitation of a human being by another human being in a system. Slavery rigs one of their core identities, exploits their person to benefit a system that doesn’t give back. Money is a god in that exploitation.

“Emancipate yourself from mental slavery, none but ourselves can free our minds”, said Bob Marley in the Redemption Song. I see Corporate slavery everyday yet the “Corporate slaves don’t even realize they are enslaved”

What is the genesis of Corporate slavely?

How can one self-diagnose if they are a Corporate slave?

What can one do to end it immediately and live life on their own terms?

What is the genesis of Corporate Slavery? In 1903 the Ford Motor Company made a sweeping proposition to young men, “Give me thirty years of your life and I will give you a pension for thirty years after your retire” People signed up for that system and gave the Company their prime only to retire with high medical bills and use up all the pension. That is slavery…..

I sat down with Mr.Nyombi Allan– Country Manager of DB Schenker Uganda– a leading logistics Company based in Germany to discuss the how to end Corporate Slavery. You can listen in. Please leave a comment or question on this topic. We would like to hear from you.

  1. Upon entry, I was enrolled as a receptionist with a very low pay but with a promise of increment after 6 months.
When I started work, I found out that the company has limited labour force so I ended up filing up the vacant spaces e.g accounts, procurement, etc.
I feel drained and unappreciated due to the fact that my payment is that of an askari [ who resides at the workplace, his water and electricity bills are paid by the company and doesn’t incur transport costs].
I tried to bargain for salary increment but that only causes me to be quarrelled by my manager [ who assigns most of his roles to me] . Yes am acquiring the skills but am dying silently. Advise

    1. Hi Resty, you can consider the following:

      – 360 leadership. Learn to lead those above, same level, and below you.
      – Know one’s worth. If the salary is that bad, and the conditions are that bad, resign and seek another job. The question would be how much are you looking for? It seems like the measure is others in the company.
      – Look at it as training and assign it a period then look for other jobs
