If you have heard me speak in the last ten years you probably have heard me, say, “Culture will eat strategy for breakfast” I didn’t coin the term, Peter Drucker did but I find it true in every form and shape.
I was having a conversation with a CEO Coaching client this week. “What have you changed about yourself in the last year”, I asked.
“You know what Sudesh? When a member of staff comes to me wanting to leave for some reason, I let them go”, he asserted. “I used to talk them out of leaving but I have learned that people have a choice to stay or leave. You can’t make them stay against their will”
To everyone reading this, if you have a job, you made a choice to work with that company or firm-it is voluntary. You could have chosen to work somewhere else but you chose that particular place. You could have turned down the offer but you accepted.
So, every day you show up at work, you’re saying, “I enroll in the mission and purpose of this organization” And for such the best organizations are filled with people who want to make change happen. That is want enrollment is.
Enrollment is what we do when we are emotionally involved in the operations of the Company. You don’t have to tell Lebron James that the game starts in five minutes, they know. As a matter of fact, they show up early and leave late. And it’s not because they are paid. It is because they are enrolled.
Culture is “How we do things around here” If you reward a sales jerk who pisses off people you’re elevating them. Culture rewards and elevates behaviors that amply with the mission and purpose.
An elevated Culture always amplified enrollment and enrolment in turn helps us hit the numbers.
Always remember: The purpose of the hive isn’t to make honey. Honey is a sign of a healthy hive.

Wow that was strange. I just wrote an incredibly
long comment but after I clicked submit my comment didn’t show up.
Grrrr… well I’m not writing all that over again. Anyways,
just wanted to say great blog!
When I originally commented I clicked the “Notify me when new comments are added” checkbox and now
each time a comment is added I get three e-mails with the same comment.
Is there any way you can remove people from that service?
Many thanks!
Excellent post. I’m experiencing some of these issues as well..
Wow, this article is fastidious, my younger sister is analyzing such things,
therefore I am going to inform her.
