The Problem With Not Creating More Problems

As it turns out, when you have a problem you must find a way of solving it. Life is all about solving problems: family, church and employment solve the “sense of belonging problem” Hospitals solve the “illness problem” and your business solves a particular problem which gets you paid.

A problem is a situation preventing something from being achieved. The word comes from a Greek word meaning an “obstacle” (something that is in your way).

Innovation is all about solving a particular problem thereafter creating more problems. Case in point: you have ten fishermen who use spears to fish using one boat. They love their job but they can’t get enough fish despite trying hard. An inventor seeks to increase their catch in the night so he invents a fishing net. All over a sudden, you need three fishermen to catch a lot of fish but you just created a problem for the other seven people who need to find other boats, buy nets and deplete the fish in the lake if they over fish.

Mobile phones solved the problem of not being able to communicate on the go. However this meant that more problems are created, all the people in your circle needed to have cell phones and buy airtime too. This gave birth to telecom Companies.

As you can see innovation is about solving one problem and therein creating more problems. The more “problems” we create, the more jobs and businesses we create. There’s a formula for solving a problem and creating more problems.

So the problem with not creating more problems is a lack of innovation which leads to poverty. The great news though is; we have mastered the art of problem creation that I will share on 21st March 2020 at VelocityXperience.
