A four star general was taking a tour of the Company that had been hired to complete a major defense contract.
Despite the assurance of the CEO that the project would get completed most time, the general felt the team wasn’t committed 100 percent. The CEO assured him that his team would do whatever it took even if it involved working overtime. The general told the CEO that understanding HR was like eating bacon and eggs: the chicken was ‘involved’ but the pig was ‘committed’
The contractor smiled and said, “well that’s true general-but the pig is dead and the chicken is still producing eggs. I want my people to stay ‘involved’
The general backed down and the project was completed on time.
Lesson: slow down to get things done. Be quick but don’t hurry.
