If you ever questioned whether you, your family or Company need to invest time and resources into disruptive thinking and initiatives, look at the current circumstances surrounding COVID-19. If your business demands lots of out-of-the-country travel are you going to sit it out and wait for the situation to calm down? Are you going to start learning how to use all the e-conferencing services now? If you answered yes to any of the above questions you need to read on.
Firstly a disruption is a temporary convergence of natural currents to test tradition and force change. Secondly, disruptions will always happen whether they are pandemics, economic crashes, tornadoes, earthquakes etc. The issue is not only to stay home, distance yourself but to think about what you are going to do long after this has ended.
I know you are saying, “Sudesh I am doing my best” But that doesn’t suffice. In such situations, it is not enough to do your best; you must know what to do and then do your best.
Here is a suggestion of what you need to do to rise above:
- Look at the situation for what it is and don’t make it worse. Your way of life has been disrupted and life will never be the same again but you are alive.
- Focus– where focus goes energy goes and where energy goes you get results. You already know enough about prevention of catching the virus. Focus on sharpening your skills in what will give you and your family results. Craft new plans for saving, creating new business models if you a business person.
- Take action: I have already contacted my prospects and clients and am delivering presentations via Google hangouts. What action are you taking?
Remember it’s not enough to do your best if you don’t know what to do
