The mystery of innovation to scholars is above patterns taught in any faculty or by any guru. In his book, Spirit of Leadership: Cultivating the attributes that Influence Human Action, Myles Munroe asserts that our ability to innovate comes from our likeness of God our Creator, he calls it the creator’s innovation spirit. In Proverbs8:12 Solomon shows us the origin of the spirit of innovation- I wisdom dwell with prudence, and find out knowledge of witty inventions.
The evidence of innovation being a spirit is real. Doctors have witnessed miracles cures of incurable diseases, yet they do not put them in books because they can’t describe them. Innovators will at times refer to the innovative spirit as a “flash of genius” We understand innovation but what is the spirit?
You can’t define the spirit before defining the body and Soul. Primarily the body is physical and with the five senses (sight, hearing, taste, smell and touch. On the other side, the soul is made of thoughts and emotions. The spirit is the part that connects to God and covers matters like faith, belief, trust, and so on.
So, it is safe to say since innovation is an inside out issue, so it’s a spirit. You can’t innovate without belief and that belief is in your spirit. I like how David Kelly in his book Creative Confidence: Unleashing the Creative Potential Within Us All puts it “Belief in your creative capacity lies at the heart of innovation.”
So if you want to activate your spirit of innovation, connect to God!
